Psychosocial Counsellor at Centre for Mental Health and Counselling

Centre for Mental Health and Counselling – Nepal (CMC-Nepal), an NGO working in mental health and psychosocial counselling, is inviting applications for the following position for the project called “Strengthening Multi Sectoral Response to Survivors of Gender based Violence through psychosocial support”, funded by UNFPA/SDC. This project will be implemented in Sindhuli, Udaypaur and Okhaldhunga districts.
Psychosocial Counsellor (3 full-time positions based one each in project district). The person of this position is responsible for building the capacity of the community based psychosocial workers and support to case managers in OCMC, district hospital in managing the psychosocial issues of GBV survivors and referral of complex clients.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Intermediate or +2 passed in any discipline
  • 6 month training in psychosocial counselling with at least 2 years working experience in mental health and psychosocial intervention.
  • Having experience of providing psychosocial support and counselling to the people especially children and women with psychosocial problems. Experiences of working with GBV survivor client for psychosocial support will be in preference.
  • Experience to conduct training and supervision for community level psychosocial workers, teachers, child clubs, female community health volunteers etc.
  • Able to demonstrate quality skills while dealing with the beneficiaries and concerned stakeholders, along with willingness to work with the survivors of gender based violence and their families
  • Report writing, documentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to extend the links and coordination with district and community based relevant stakeholders, including referrals for higher level intervention
  • Salaries and benefits:  As per agreement between UNFPA and CMC-Nepal
Duration of the contract is for 16 months till 31st December, 2017
