Under the framework of the UNESCO-UNFPA-UN Women Joint Programme for the Empowerment of Adolescent Girls and Young Women, the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is implementing the project “Empowering Adolescent Girls and Young Women through the provision of Comprehensive Sexuality Education and a Safe Learning Environment in Nepal” with support from the Republic of Korea and in close cooperation with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Nepal National Commission for UNESCO/MoE.
In order to coordinate the implementation of the project, the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu seeks applications for the following position:
Position Title  : Driver
Condition of Employment :  Full-time based in UNESCO Kathmandu Office, with frequent field visits
Type of Contract : Service Contract
Salary scale  : SB 1, Band C, Step 2
Net monthly Salary: NPR 40,446
Additional benefits: Provident fund & Medical insurance
Duties and Responsibilities: 
The incumbent shall coordinate the implementation of the project “Empowering Adolescent Girls and Young Women through the provision of Comprehensive Sexuality Education and a Safe Learning Environment in Nepal”, under the overall authority of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and UNESCO Representative to Nepal, and direct supervision of Chief of the Administration and Finance Unit.
  • In particular, s/he shall: 
  • Provide day to day driving services
  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle;
  • Ensure all safety regulations, security operating procedures and standard HF & VHF communication procedures are followed. Ensure all mandated security related equipment is present and operational in the vehicle at all time. Ensure all required documentation are present in the vehicle at all time. Ensure the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident or other incident involving the vehicle or its passenger;
  • Undertake missions outside the Kathmandu Valley;
  • Maintain Log book of the vehicle with all the information (official trip, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil change etc.)
  • Delivery and collection of mails, documents and to items.
  • General Requirements:

  • Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
  • Secondary Education with a valid driving license;
  • Thorough knowledge of local driving rules and regulations;
  • 3-5 years of experience of driving, preferably with a UN agency, embassy or an INGO with a safe driving record;
  • Good knowledge of English;
